Turtle and the Hare 2008 Snowpack
Monday, May 12th, 2008
I love the story of the Turtle and the Hare. I know I need to be consistently reminded to slow down to win the race. Lucky for those living in the Stanley Basin our 125% snow pack has heard this story too. Typical temps for May usually are hovering around the 60’s and 70’s. Last year on our training trip on the Salmon it was close to 90 degrees. This year you can count on one hand the day’s that it has been warmer than 50. What does this mean for those wanting to raft the Salmon River this year? Great water flows. Our river rafting trips are always a good time, but the more water the better. Low elevation snows are off and we have our higher elevation snows ready to come off nice and easy, which translates into great water flows all summer long.
Hope to see you all this summer.
David
